Walk your neighborhood often and as soon as you notice your pet is missing. Checking during the late evening or early morning hours when things are more quiet, may be productive. If your pet is hiding, it may come out once things have slowed down for the day.

Notify your neighbors and follow-up with them in a week or so if you still have not found your pet.

Put some food, water and familiar items in a place your pet can access.

Contact your local shelters to make sure they have received your lost pet information. Follow up with them every few days. Take the time to walk the shelter whenever possible.

Post color flyers at local veterinarians, pet stores or on community center boards. Black and white copies are less expensive so printing these for your neighborhood will allow you to print more.

Post your lost pet on Craigslist and search for postings that may include your pet. Check the "community" pages as well as the "for sale" page. Posting on other area's Craigslist pages is also recommended. There are pages for Santa Fe/ Taos, Albuquerque, Clovis/Portales, Farmington, Las Cruces and Roswell/Carlsbad.
